I liked working here everyone was very nice and training was easy it would be long hours and could be time consuming at times it’s a great way to start

I love it here not the pay so much

My manager is amazing is willing to fix your schedule to fit with whatever you have going on outside of work. The job itself isn’t hard I work in inventory, and I wasn’t thinking when they said we would be outside all the time, because when I came in it was nice weather, and I didn’t mind it at the time. We prep cars when someone buys them, maintain the front lot, secure cars, make sure back lot cars are locked up, go to different dealerships to switch out cars and drop off cars. We get paid $15.50 an hour which I feel like it should be at least 16.75 ,and we get paid biweekly. Besides those 2 flukes this is a great job. If I tell you everyone is nice and easy going I’ve never been at a job where I seen people actually like there job. Everyone checks on each other to make sure everyone is comfortable.

Horrible place to work

If you want to make money as a car salesman look elsewhere, the pay is horrible, it is designed to pay you as little as possible for your work. If a customer calls in or does anything online, you lose half a commission. returns the car inside seven days, you make practically nothing. cancels Maxcare inside of 90, you forfeit that commission. The sales consultant position is a revolving door because you cannot make money working here. The company lures you in with false promises, you would have a better career working at a McDonalds. Beware

Horrible work experience

Worked in the business office and although the customer were amazing the staff and management was horrible and bias. They don’t care and if you don’t fit in with them they will do their best to try and get rid of you even if you are doing everything correctly in terms of your job description. I had a HORRIBLE experience with the staff here.

Pretty good job

I enjoy my job. It's easy work and very flexible. Most of the time we are having a good time while getting our work done. Benefits and PTO are also awesome. A few years ago the pay was above average for local entry level positions. Carmax is not keeping up with inflation, though. Raises need to be considered based on the local cost of living. That's really the only downside. Moving up in the company is easy for those willing to put in the effort required.

Great job with on going training and tons of support

Anyone looking to work from home should apply if you can talk on the phone. Experience with financing is helpful. Minimal company meetings but a ton of Microsoft teams work

Company has steadily declined

Every year it gets harder to make money. With Omni most of the cars you sell will only pay half commissions which can make things very frustrating. Especially when you’re doing multiple test drives and 99% of the work. No raises in the last 10 years and none for the foreseeable future. Too many things are expected of you and you don’t even get compensated for doing those things. There is way too many ways to lose money after a sale and in today’s time with inflation we can’t afford to be losing money. If you’re looking to make some money in sales look elsewhere, this place is good if you’re a beginner and need to learn the basics.

A job that is generally stress-free, but pays well under industry standards

What is the best part of working at the company?Sales managers are respectful and 401 match is good What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Low commissions. Commissions on many occasions are split with online customer service personnel even though the in-store sales consultants did all the workWhat is the work environment and culture like at the company?Work environment is pretty easy-going. Sales managers are respectful. Generally sales consultants work between 40 to 45 hours a week so home life is pretty good.What is a typical day like for you at the company?As a sales consultant, you generally deal with appointments whether they were made by the customer or online with a customer service representative. If you’re lucky you get a fresh walk in so you can try to make full commission. Generally, it’s a customer service job with processes in place to sell vehicles and take care of the customers.

Great Business Model, Horrible place to work

The schedule is never set in stone, the pay is laughable. The security systems meant to keep people safe in the office don’t work, good luck trying to be friendly with coworkers, everyone there just wears a smile but is happy to try and get you fired for anything if it means they have a chance to move up. The part time workers are there for a check and nothing else and happily skate responsibilities off to full time people, leads frequently disappear for an hour+ and leave trainees in the office to try and handle things. They also are horrible when talking about other locations, it’s just drama, drama, drama at this location, avoid, avoid, avoid!!!!!

Truly a great place to work!

CarMax consistently shows how much they care for their associates, through surveys, associate events, and even philanthropy. I feel really cared for on a daily basis. My job is easy but I can see the meaningful impact it has on the company, and it always feels great to be recognized!

CarMax Auto Finance Collections Specialist

CarMax Auto Finance isn’t a bag company to work for. They offer 6-8 weeks of job training and you’ll have lots of support from management during that time. I feel like this job is best for someone whose looking for an entry level position and whose okay with less pay. The pay does not equate to the demand expectation of the job.

I barely had any training and it was impossible to learn the job. With the amount of disorganization and poor management, this was an awful place to work

Stressful

Micro managed can’t move up and walking on eggshells all the time. Very liberal ideas. The hardest part of the job is keeping management happy and abiding by the company standards at the same time. A typical work day is management on your back all the time.

Worked in the transportation department as it was a new department there was a lot of room to grow, but it did take time, and just like any company there were the favorites.

Work/life balance

I really like the way schedules are set up week to week. No matter what shift I’m scheduled, I always have time to spend with my kids once I get home. This is a welcome change from previous jobs who could care less about family.
