Fun but repetitive

The company itself could add more paid holidays. The only way to really move up is to relocate. You do get good vacation time as a full time employee.

The focus is completely on the associates

When you go into work you would have a meeting with the whole company. Management was Top Notch they help me learn a lot and they want you to advance. They had activities and often brought in lunch and dinner. The hardest part about the job when I work there was the commute.

Great schedules

The work schedules are great. Allows home time for family. Good work atmosphere. They really like to cookout or have food catered in. They seem to also really like to educate you and help you grow within the company!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Trying to push as many cars out to the front line as possible. Every night. Nonstop. Good paying company

Well paid company for technicians , supply all tools needed, bad things about the company is that management is not knowledgeable to answer or solve problems lots of favoratism no recognition of their good employees.

Kool-Aid Drinker

Wasted over 5 years of my life working my way up from a sales consultant to sales manager. The store management was a “good old boys” club. Upper management always played favorites when it came to internal job promotions. Carmax acts like the world revolves around their company, when the cold reality is that no other companies care about seeing Carmax on your work resume. I only recommend working at Carmax if you just graduated from high school and looking for a job or if you are a college student in your early 20’s looking for a good entry level job to build work experience.

Horrible place to work

I wouldn’t recommend CarMax to anyone looking for a job. There’s not place for growth, as the tenure is short. The pay is horrible especially when having to work in any weather, under bad management. Don’t trust the unprofessional leadership that lies within the company.

Mixed feelings

Being mentally challenged and given a chance to move from my home town to Tallahassee has been a journey I can’t put in words. Nonetheless, the Carmax brand reshaped my life and perfected my way of learning I couldn’t never imagined.But the way I was treated after my leave will never be forgotten and kind of hurt in ways that are hard to explain. Making false commitments and lying to follow up with me twice, really made me re-think the friendships, respect of my peers and the transparency that the brand went by and I learned to go by.Will always love the brand but management just needs a little more attention depending on a stores situation and to be transparent with their associates when a huge transition occurs within a stores as some stories get un-heard.

Horrible place to work

typical day: horriblewhat i learned: I learned nothing management: rude and unfairworkplace culture: terrible hardest part of the job: everything because no one helped with paperwork, business office was too busy reproducing in the back like jungle animals enjoyable part of the job: zero, it was all too miserable and horrible inside an out oh and you're so underpaid , they dont care about the employees, they care about the management's pockets and hitting the "goals"

Good people.

Good people to work for, however you must make sure you get the right training and feel free to ask questions. If not you can get frustrated, and no one likes that when working with their customers.

Its Worth It

I love my job. Great job if you are needing to get on your feet with patience to grow. The people are extremely nice and welcoming towards you. Good Luck

So far it isn't worth it.

I just started. Even though the trading is good. It's super hard to make a decent paycheck even if you're always selling cars.If a customer does anything online before seeing you. They automatically call it a remote lead and take half. From booking appointment to getting prequalified for different vehicle. It's 160 for a floor lead and cuts down to 80 for a remote! Most sales are remotes. Some you can get done less then 2 hours, but you have times it can take you 6 hrs so situations out of your control!

Feel Like We Are Just a Number

I have been with Carmax for just over ten years in multiple roles and two locations. Carmax does not feel like the place I started at. Much less development and initial training, people promoted just because they are a good talker or know people, and it has grown to feel like you are simply a number to the company.

Many locations, can be promoted if you are willing to relocate

缺点

No/ late lunches too frequently, high stress, unfair pay vs outside hires, near zero employee retention attempted by company

Mixed Feelings

Work environment and other associates are amazing. Great benefits. ..Long work days. Expect to work 12PM- 9PM Monday through Friday (Minimum! You will work before 12PM if you have an appointment). Hours are not flexible by any means. ..Commission based pay.. commission per car is very low. Ranging from $40-$160...Overall decent company to work for.
