No work life balance

The job was fine to work at home but they’re under employed and it shows. They don’t want you to have anymore than 10 seconds between each call and the calls are back to back. They’re constantly down your back as if we’re in highschool and worst part is the schedule varies every single day and you can’t pick your schedule or times you choose to work. You have to basically have a 100% open schedule to work here at CarMax auto finance

Commission consistently going down

The job is great at first. You learn a lot of information related to the industry, finance world, and sales techniques. However after a while you start seeing that the pay is lower than other dealerships in the area typically less than 1% MSRP and a pay raise of less than 300$ per car. The remote team gets in your way taking half of the commission away just by simply calling the customer. Managment getting in the way and taking customers from under you to other high earning reps. If the customer even starts the process you’ll lose half the commission but have to do the same amount if not more per customer, the team setting isn’t there. Other reps only care about themselves and their money. You get no support from management, and are constantly overworked if you want to make any money. Good luck having a life while working here. The needs of the job require you to be on call 24/7. I tried taking a vacation but was guilted by Managment and my customers. During said vacation one of the customers I worked with for weeks bought a car through a different rep that was given to them by Managment. Don’t work here.

Unfair management definitely a cult vibe and management is in a contest to out do each other.

Don't fall for the schedule they will have you working whenever they say at the last minute for as long as they want under paid and over worked whoever takes the night shift will never get promoted to days dead-end job.

Fun Place

I made great people at Carmax. The job was repetitive boring at times but depending on the location the people/coworkers made it better. Management was biased some didn’t have the skills to be a supervisor. But overall decent, good pay, good benefits, and loads of overtime.

wouldn’t recommend

it started off as a great job. i was promoted twice within 6mo of being there. they make it seem like a trusting, likeable environment but the burnout and stress from the customers are unbearable. the lack of support from managers make it worse. you stress your concerns, they sweep it under the rug. they speak on possible changes that can make the job easier but it doesn’t appear or stay long. its not worth it.

Probably my favorite job

I loved working at Carmax both in Ontario, CA and in Fayetteville, NC. There were a lot of possible ways to move up or to move around in the company. Also, they were always feeding us. Almost as if they were trying to find reasons to feed us all the time.

Productive

Needs improvement. Insurance is the worse and curtain departments could use better pay than other departments. But they do have good hours if you like to get up early 5a-2p.

Management is unqualified

My Sr. Manager has no IT background other than Carmax, no education, no certs, no ITIL, nothing. This reflects big time, No planning shoot from the hip for everything from easy incidents to department mergers and no industry standards, documentation or accountability. Tried to make it thru hping things would change, since they keep saying they will but after almost 3 years I'm back on the job hunt. Along with other collogues, so their may be a few openings if your interested in hating your job!Culture is for sales not IT, all the personal development and annual reports etc. is all made up and copy pasted then submitted to the RVP's so it makes them look good. Sad, had a good couple years till, the curtain came down. Stay AWAY till they decide to start requiring high level management to have ANY education or experience and not just the hiring of friends that give your perks and "gifts" for entrance to the Old boys club.
