What is the best part of working at the company?The diversity and they made working their fun. We would be fed by the higher ups regularly. Team building exercises were regularly scheduled.What is the most stressful part about working at the company?In Laundry, we would be there BEFORE housekeepers & front desk employees & would still be there AFTER they left. I've never felt so surrounded by acceptance and the truly tried to make the work environment fun.What is a typical day like for you at the company?Started at 7, though I often arrived at 6:30-6:45 and was allowed to clock-in. Easy money. Stress free. Only quit because new management brought in their own people. Pushed current employees out. Had to watch your money though . Money from tip jars often came up missing. Lots of theft. Employees would carry food, alcohol anything they could carry out the back door.

Good if you need lots of overtime

The hours were consistently long (12 hour shifts are not uncommon). Overtime was paid at 1.5x base rate.A lot of the labor is physical, so if you can't lift heavy objects or be on your feet for basically the entire shift, this job isn't for you.The management is friendly and you learn a lot about the hotel and service industry. There are also perks like free food and a nice team environment.

Management does not care about you. I worked there almost 5 years and in that time I got a $1.00 raise (over the period of 4 raises). When I applied to move up I was told that another person had applied more times than I had so they will get the promotion. This job is favouritism at its finest.

Atrium versus contract workers

When I first started working there, it was A fun place to work and to meet all the customers and more people that worked there, it was fun at first. Atrium workers arembassy suites employees that the contract workers are not. Embassy suite employees, they're all Mexicans. And it was like 16 contract workers employees that can not speak English and In housekeeping communication is a very big part of the job and half the employees more than half can't speak english.

The pay was great, management horrible. If you had an issue with one supervisor in particular he’d side with her…..no matter if it was brought to upper management…stealing and lying they let her get away with…hostile work environment and the same manager not taking responsibility for things….

Fast Pace High Pressure

Overall the job’s not bad. It can be stressful at times but my coworkers are nice and shifts go by quick. I do think upper management needs to provide better security for the property and its employees. Being across from the light rail we regularly deal with kicking homeless off the property. They also are always having staffing issues, if they had a full team everything would run smooth but as of now they’re constantly asking for help covering shifts.

All the current property managers are supportive and respectful towards employees. However, Hilton corporate management creates rules and priorities that make absolutely no sense. This is a 30+ years old property which has never been renovated - the carpets, furniture and structure are shabby and worn out. Guests usually expect better accommodations from a Hilton hotel, so we hear complaints about issues we cannot control.
